- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup crushed hard candies (various colors)
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, and mix until combined.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Chill the dough for at least an hour.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick.
- Use cookie cutters to cut out the cookies and then cut out small shapes in the center of each cookie.
- Place the cookies on a lined baking sheet and fill the center with crushed hard candies.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Let cookies cool completely before removing them from the baking sheet.
