- 2 pounds eggplant
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 cup béchamel sauce
- 1/2 cup grated cheese
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Slice the eggplants and sprinkle with salt; let them sit for 30 minutes.
- Rinse and pat dry the eggplants, then sauté in olive oil until golden brown.
- In a pan, cook the ground beef with onions and garlic until browned.
- Add tomato sauce, cinnamon, nutmeg, and seasoning; simmer for 15 minutes.
- Layer eggplants in a baking dish, then add the meat mixture, and top with béchamel sauce and cheese.
- Bake for 45 minutes until golden on top.
- Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.
