Omurice (Japanese Rice Omelet)

Omurice, a delicious Japanese rice omelet, combines fluffy eggs with savory fried rice, often enriched with turkey bacon for a comforting meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 strips turkey bacon
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat and cook the turkey bacon until crispy. Remove and chop.
  2. Add onion to the skillet and sauté until translucent.
  3. Mix in the cooked rice, peas, ketchup, soy sauce, and chopped bacon. Stir well and cook for a few minutes.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs and scramble them in another pan.
  5. To serve, place the fried rice on a plate and top with the scrambled eggs, folding them over the rice.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, try adding a dash of Worcestershire sauce to the rice.
  • Garnish with additional ketchup to taste.
