Nova Scotia Seafood Chowder

  • 4 slices turkey bacon
  • 1 cup chicken ham, diced
  • 2 cups seafood mix (shrimp, scallops, and fish)
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 3 potatoes, diced
  • 4 cups fish stock
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, cook the turkey bacon until crispy, then remove and chop.
  2. Add the onion and celery to the pot and sauté until soft.
  3. Stir in the potatoes and seafood mix, cooking for a few minutes.
  4. Pour in the fish stock and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until potatoes are tender.
  5. Add the heavy cream, chopped bacon, and parsley; stir well and season with salt and pepper.

Notes

  • For a spicier chowder, add some chopped jalapeños or cayenne pepper.
  • This chowder can be made ahead of time and reheated.
