Easy Homemade Greek Pastitsio with Turkey Bacon and Chicken Ham

- 1 pound penne pasta
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion chopped
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 4 ounces turkey bacon chopped
- 8 ounces chicken ham diced
- 1 can crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups béchamel sauce
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large pan, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the onion and garlic until translucent.
- Add turkey bacon and chicken ham, cooking until browned.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a baking dish, layer half of the pasta, the meat mixture, and then the remaining pasta.
- Pour the béchamel sauce over the top and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
- Bake at 350°F for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes
- For a vegetarian version, omit meats and use lentils instead.
- Feel free to add vegetables like spinach or bell peppers for added flavor.
