Classic Bolognese Sauce

A delicious and healthier version of the traditional Bolognese sauce incorporating turkey bacon and chicken ham.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 4 ounces turkey bacon, chopped
  • 1 cup chicken ham, diced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup carrots, diced
  • 1 cup celery, diced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the turkey bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside.
  2. Add ground turkey to the skillet and cook until browned.
  3. Stir in chopped onions, carrots, celery, and garlic; sauté until soft.
  4. Add diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and the cooked turkey bacon.
  5. Season with oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
  6. Simmer for at least 30 minutes to blend the flavors.
  7. Serve over pasta or your choice of sides.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, let the sauce simmer longer.
  • Can substitute ground chicken for turkey.
